Last year, Facebook, Twitter, and Google garnered a lot of media attention by “banning cryptocurrency” from their platforms. Well now, the world’s most popular search engine is taking things even further and Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin is not happy about it.
GOOGLE BLOCKS ETHEREUM KEYWORD; VITALIK BUTERIN NOT HAPPY
According to some reports by auditing startup Decenter, Google has apparently blacklisted the word “Ethereum” from Google ads. Decenter then took to Twitter to voice their concerns on January 10 saying “we are seeing a hard stop on Google Ads containing “ethereum” as the keyword in the last two days. Is anyone noticing the same change?” This is just the latest example of internet censorship and Vitalik Buterin is getting tired of it.
GOOGLE RESPONSE TO ETHEREUM AND VITALIK BUTERIN
Through Google’s official Twitter account, the company responded to this attack by saying “advertisers may promote cryptocurrency exchanges that target the United States and Japan. Hence, you may not be able to run ads which target other countries.” However, despite what the message says, Decenter tested the claim and found they could not run Ethereum campaigns targeted at the U.S. or Japanese based customers (or anyone else for that matter). What can Vitalik Buterin do?
VITALIK BUTERIN IS STRONGER WITH ETHEREUM THAN GOOGLE
Last year, there were reports of Vitalik Buterin moving from Ethereum to Google but he is a true revolutionary. He can do more good with his company now than he could ever do over there. In fact, many people are starting to buy ETH more than ever this past year. Due to the recent hard fork, crypto investors are taking out loans on lending platforms like YouHodler.com just to get a piece of the cheap ETH price before it blasts off as analysts predict.
